Picturesque Spring Break

Sit down and get comfortable; it's gonna be a long one...with a lots of pictures, hence the post title. This is a VERY small portion of the number of pictures I actually took, too!

Saturday morning the kids and I headed to Ruidoso to meet Kyle and his family. Pops and Dawn came, too, but not until Sunday. The house was so neat! It was HUGE! The kids LOVED it! As soon as we went in, of course, they headed to find "their" bedroom. McKenzie, on the other hand, ran straight to the fridge and came back and informed Kyle that the refrigerator didn't have any food. ha! Thank goodness we had already done our shopping; it was just still in the car.
The house DID have a volleyball court

a pool table

putt putt golf

a swing set

horseshoes

and a basketball court.

It was really a GREAT! house!
On Sunday, we decided to take the kids tubing. I was really surprised at how warm it was, despite all the snow. Maybe it was because we layered everybody up so much. We had long johns, then jeans and shirts, then a snowbib, and then our coats. Not to mention the hats and gloves and scarves. We all ended up ditching our jackets. I carried my camera for a couple of shots but then realized everybody ELSE was having fun while I was just capturing it. So I went and put it in the car, and that was that!

The lift up to tube down.

Blaine headed down, after much coaxing and tears. After that first time, though, he was all about it! He was originally riding solo, and McKenzie and Myra were riding together. The little ones later decided it was more fun to ride together (after the camera had been put away), so they rode together, and Myra got her own tube. Kylee and Kellie rode together the WHOLE time. They felt so grown up because we let them stay just a few people ahead of us, so they felt independent.
We also made a train to go down the mountain. I was actually IN that train, so no pictures of that. Everybody picture was in the train, except for the little ones. Kyle led, then me, then Myra, then Michael, the Kylee and Kellie in their double tube. The heaviest have to go first, so they don't try to pass the little ones up and hurt them.

The kids really enjoyed it. So did the adults for that matter! It was fun, fun. And it was warm enough that we weren't freezing and could even take our jackets off.

As we were tubing, Pops and DD showed up and watched for a while. Then we all headed to lunch. Blaine was VERY whiney, and almost got in trouble for it. So DD ran off to go get him some balls for the pool table while we waited for our table to keep him out of trouble.

As we were waiting for our food, we realized why Blaine was so whiney.
We wore him out!
And evidentally, we didn't get McKenzie enough to drink!

We had promised the kids a trip to the Sweet Retreat after lunch. Pops and DD are on a health kick, so they didn' t go with us. Our snack ended up being over $100. But along with our Sweet Retreat, we got a sweet surprise. Mom Mom was driving back from seeing Grandmommy in Clovis, so she stopped just long enough to see everybody.

The next day, Kyle and Myra and Michael were going to go skiing. The girls (Kylee and Kellie) had originally said they were going too. We were going to get them a private lesson with the two of them so they could really learn something. Then we heard it was supposed to snow all night and all day, and they realized they had to get up early to go, and they decided to stay home with the little kids. After all, "I am NOT getting up early on vacation!"
It did, in fact snow all night and all day. Kyle, Myra, and Michael headed off to go skiing, we the rest of us hung out at the house and took out the trash

built clubhouses

and just watched it snow.

There was also a little fighting, more playing, and lots of giggles.
It ended up that the skiers did not get up the mountain because of all the snow, so they came home and we engaged in our nightly ritual.
Since the kids and I didn't even get out of the house the day before, on Tuesday we headed out for some fun, and, boy, did we find some at the go cart track.
As we were driving, Blaine saw a log cabin, and he told McKenzie, "Look, that's Abraham Lincoln's house." She said, "Who is that?" He said, "Our president who got shot, so now he's dead. He was 41, so if he didn't get shot, he'd be 42 and still be our president." He does listen!!
The kids found fun in the jumping balloon

the jumpolene

and the go carts.

And Daddy and I enjoyed just watching.

It was an awesome spring break. We're so blessed to have such a great family and cousins who look forward to spend time together!
The kids are out for two more weeks, but Mom is stuck back at work today...and NOT loving it.
