Women, Wine and Shoes

That was the name of the American Heart Association Benefit Kylee and I went to last night with the Lisa's (ha!) and their girls. The girls felt really grown up and loved bidding in the silent auction. They couldn't figure out why a mani/pedi was so expensive, though. I rushed home after work to get Kylee dressed in the required red. The only red she had in her closet were heavy sweaters (it was 80 degrees yesterday) or ratty old red t-shirts. I told her to throw on her white capris and red flippies and we would run to Justice to get her a red top. We get there, and EVERYTHING is Easter egg colors.....NO red. NOTHING! The benefit started at 6:00; it was 5:40, and we were on the OPPOSITE end of town. I was desperate! I run back to the sale rack to see if there is red there, and on my way back I see a really cute RED cami with lace on the neck and hem line. So I think, gotta put this under something, ANYTHING! Then I saw the cutest white shrug with studs on it. (She's wearing white capris and red flippies.) Threw it together, grabbed a red studded headband, thought we were done. Then Roxy (the girl who works at Justice, has done all the b-day parties Kylee has been to and has promised to do hers, too) told Kylee she'd fix her hair for her if she wanted. 20 minutes and $30 later, she walked out of there looking like a million bucks! Did I bring my camera? NO!!!! But the newspaper took a picture of all three girls, and I hope! I hope! they either put it in the paper or post it on their website so I can get a copy of it. In the meantime, I'll post a picture of the three girls another night.

The REST of the story

I couldn't get the video of Kylee's dance loaded on here. Maybe it is too big?? Here is the link to watch it. Please ignore my comments to her. I didn't realize I was talking to her under my breath, and excuse my boys at the end who couldn't wait to leave.

Kylee's made-up face

Blaine licking the bowl

Stay tuned..

Kylee had an action-packed Friday night with her first real GROWN UP dance competion that ranged from elementary school all the way to seniors in high school. She and her company did an AWESOME job! They didn't place, but we are still very proud of them. I will be posting the video and pictures (with her precious face messed up with make up that made her look 17 and GORGEOUS!) this afternoon when I get them loaded.

I went to Midland this weekend just to get away and hang out with four of my favorite people (Randa, Ryan, Daddy, and Dawn), which is why the delay in the pictures. I do have this one because I didn't take it, so it was emailed to me. It was a wonderful weekend, a real attitude adjustment, and I'm going to have to do it more often.

When I got home, Blaine was telling me how wonderful it was while I was gone because he got to play on the computer WHENEVER he wanted, watch TV WHENEVER he wanted, and eat WHATEVER he wanted. I said, "Maybe I should go away more often." He said, "Yeah, maybe with Mom Mom because she probably wants to see you, but I don't."
It might have hurt my feelings if he weren't so loving towards me when I got back.

Kylee spent the weekend with Lindsey, her best friend, who just bought a new house. When she came home, we were talking about her new house and how big it was, etc. She told me the house was huge, even though it was just one story. I asked her if Lindsey's room was big. She said it was. I asked her if it was bigger than her room, and she said, "Mom, how can I know with all this stuff in here?" Like we are storing stuff in her room or something that's not hers. I said, "If you feel that way, maybe you should clean this room out and give me the toys you don't want anymore." She said, "I want all of it!" Of course she does!

Valentine's Week - The Quotes

We were driving down the road yesterday and Kylee said, "Mommy, I really hope Grandmommy is alive when I have kids because how cool would it be for them to have a great-great grandma!" I said, "That would be really cool." She said, "Yeah, 'cause you know, Mom Mom is this close to being a great grandma." I said, "Really??!" She said, "Mom, Bryce is 16. By 20, they're looking for a wife!" ;)

Valentine's Week - The reunion

I found these really cute personalized t-shirts I wanted to order for the kids for Valentine's Day. I was talking to Kylee about it, and I told her I was going to put Kissable Kylee on hers but I needed ideas for Blaine's. She said she didn't care about Blaine's, but she wanted TLC 4 Dad Dad on hers. (See they have this thing about how she always has to give him TLC) So I told Blaine, and he said that girls give to boys and boys give to girls on Valentine's so he needed one for Mom Mom. They were so excited about it! But, of course, that's when MD Anderson scheduled Dan to be there, so we had to wait until he got back. These kids wouldn't EVEN wear them on the 14th, even though I told them I would wash them before Mom Mom and Dad Dad got home. Forget it!!! They were waiting. So the reunion was one of MUCH anticipation. The people at the airport around us while we were waiting for them even got in on it. These kids were excited now!!

So now everybody is home and safe, and I'll be honest and tell you I'm excited about it as anybody.

Valentine's Week - The Fun

Saturday we went out to Joey's parents for fun. We cooked hamburgers, played baseball, and made smores on the chimnea, of course. The kids had a blast.

When we got home, and we were tucking Kylee into bed, I noticed some writing on her calendar. Her calendar, of course, is Zac Efron, her "True love." Anyway, I just thought it was so funny what she wrote, so I thought I'd share it.

Ok now a funny on me. Kylee and I got our piggies done, and look what she talked me into. I'm rocking these blue piggies!

Valentine's WEEK -- The treats

OK. Valentine's Day is my LEAST favorite holiday, and I feel like we celebrated it longer this year than any other holiday. And to top it off, I made more treats than I did dinners this week! (Joey did send me these beautiful flowers this year, which I LOVE!!) In fact, one night we had CEREAL for dinner so I could finish the sweets! I made heart-shaped brownies (which I took no picture of) and heart-shaped cupcakes for AWANA, and then I made chocolate covered strawberries for Kylee's class and another batch of cupcakes for Blaine's day care. All of this, of course, was by request. Mommy friends, NEVER take requests. Just pick something up and move on. ;)

Allergies, Annie, and Awards

What a weekend! Mom and I went to Beth Moore Friday and Saturday, which was FABULOUS! If you get a chance, spend the money!

Saturday evening, Kylee ate a Jolly Rancher and decided it was so sweet that she needed some potato chips to wash it down. After she ate a few chips, she told me the inside of her lip hurt. I figured she had just cut herself with one of the chips and some salt had gotten in it, so I sent her upstairs to get a wash rag to put on it. This, of course, was just to make her feel like I was doing something, I didn't know what else to do. She came back downstairs and pulled the washrag off her lip to tell me something, and her lip was HUGE!!! I still haven't figured out what she had a reaction to, but it was something! She'd kill me if she knew I was posting this picture, but.....

I suck as a mother..hehe

Blaine had his tee ball banquet that we have been waiting for since December on Sunday. Of course, we also had Annie tickets for the same day, exact same time, so we missed most of it. He did get by in time to get his trophy (and his Dad got one too for coaching!) and his pictures. Here's a picture of Blaine, Coach Perez, and Coach Daddy.

If Annie the musical comes through where you are, it is fabulous. I've heard my kids sing hard-knock life 750 times since Sunday. On the way to Terry's this morning, Blaine told me, "Mommy, yesterday we were listening to the Annie CD at Terry's (who, by the way went with us, since DadDad and MomMom couldn't go), and me and my friends played like Terry's house was an octopus." I said, "An octopus?"
"Yes, Mom, where the girls who don't have parents live." hehe

You're Gonna Miss This

My mom asked Blaine last night if he was going to kick his Daddy's butt on the Wii. Blaine said, "I'm gonna whip his ass!" Nobody said anything for a FULL minute while we tried to collect ourselves and not laugh in front of him. Mother escaped the room quickly to keep her laughter in check; I turned my head; and Joey (who was quicker than I), of course, told him not to say that word.

Pay attention!

This morning on the way to school, Kylee put in a CD (for Blaine, of course, because she's WAAAYY to grown up to listen to it anymore) that she got when she was little. It's a Veggie Tales CD that is personalized with her name. They both love it! So we drop Kylee off at school, and Blaine and I are on our way to Terry's, CD still playing. The CD says, Ok, Kylee.....blah blah blah. Blaine says, "She's not in the car anymore, people!" HA! We keep listening, and in a minute they say her name again. Blaine says, "UGGHH! I already told you she got out! She's not in the car!" :D

The book fair is at Kylee's school this week, and my mother bought her a Guiness Book of World Records book. I can't remember exactly what the University of California at Los Angeles won, but she was telling my mom and Dan about it. She didn't say U-C-L-A with the letters. She sounded it out and said UCLA (uk-la). Nobody correct her. :D

We are headed to Annie the Musical at the Plaza theater Sunday. I will post pictures next week.

No news

Nothing new around here. I stayed in bed all weekend with a sinus infection that was awful! My parents were keeping the kids Friday night so Joey and I could have a date, and our date consisted of take-out in bed and a pay-per-view movie that I was snoring halfway through. Poor Joey.

Here's a picture of my dancer and my rockstar from the times I did get out of bed.
