America's Next Top Performer

Last night I sat on the couch just to be near my boy, who has spent the last two nights at Mom Mom and Dad Dad's. I feel like I haven't seen him all summer! His sister either, but, once again, she stayed at Mom Mom and Dad Dad's. They are staying home this weekend. I don't care what they want to do. They are staying with me, both of them, wherever I am, they will be. Period. Sorry. I digress.

So I was sitting on the couch next to my boy as he watched kids on YouTube sing the same song over and over and over again. The next thing I knew, he asked me if he recorded himself, if I would put it on YouTube for him. Sure. Why not?

Y'all, I have watched these videos he made as many times as he watched the same song by different kids. And laughed. A lot. I am not discounting Blaine's talent. But the boy makes me laugh. His personality is so great, and not just 'cause I'm his mom.

If you get a chance, instead of just watching these here, actually go to YouTube and hit like. He says he's going to be checking how many likes and dislikes he gets.

Don't you just love him? I mean, how could you not. Watch out, Justin Bieber! You've got competition!

Cousins and Friends

While Kellie and McKenzie were here, we did more than just celebrate Mom Mom's birthday. The girls came in Thursday night, and, of course, my kids were over there in a flash. McKenzie looked so big, we decided to measure her against Blaine.
Notice the big girls in the background. They are hiding under the blanket because they had just come in from the pool, stripped their swimsuits, and got under the blanket.

McKenzie really wanted to go home with me, but I had to work Friday, so I PROMISED her she and Blaine could stay with me Friday night. So after swimming with Mom Mom and Dad Dad all day, stay with me, they did!

Joey ended up going to a birthday BBQ and didn't get home until late (or early, however you wanna see it), so the kids slept with me. The next morning, after breakfast and Soul Surfer,
we headed to Mom Mom's. Though I had spent the morning with the littles, I felt like Mom Mom had kept the littles when I saw the big girls.
After the birthday party and Madagasgar 3, the kids were back in the pool!
Yes, Dad Dad really was there all weekend. I have no idea why I don't have pictures of him! Maybe he was inside watching the Olympic tryouts.

Sunday, Kylee danced at the Cowtown Boots Flea Market and carnival. While she was getting ready to perform, the Kellie, McKenzie, and Blaine played.

And rode the bull!
And then she performed. Somebody from the news station and the newspaper was there recording and taking pictures of her duet. She's so excited! We're still watching to see if she appears there.

Hey Mama, Welcome to the 60's

My mama is 60 today. Happy Birthday, Mama!!!

Since the kids were here this weekend, we planned a little surprise party for her. While Kylee was dancing, McKenzie and I ran to the party store for balloons and ingredients for her cake. Blaine, Kellie, and Kenzie made her birthday cards while I made the cake. Then we picked up Kylee, she made her card, and we headed to Mom Mom's. McKenzie, since she was the only one who went with me, decided she needed Minnie Mouse balloons because Mom Mom hearts Minnie Mouse, and the kids heart Mom Mom. Then there was cake! And hugs from the other two of us! Dad Dad is out of town tonight, so we get to take her to dinner to celebrate! Maybe instead of Happy Birthday, we'll sing....

Blaine Gets Kinged

Yesterday morning, Blaine, his daddy, and I were up and at 'em, headed to the dentist's office at 7 a.m. to get kinged. (that's what he kept calling his crown) Our boy is such a trooper! He never cried or acted scared. They called his name, and he went on back there...without us, but he did take Cowboy. They told us once they had him settled, we could go back and get a peek of him. (Just ignore me in the reflection. They didn't want him to know we were there.)

There was good news and bad news. The bad news is the one we thought would be filled was too far gone for that, so it had to be crowned. And the one we thought would be crowned was too far gone for even that, so it had to be pulled. When they brought this out to me, I almost puked! Look at those roots!

The good news is they thought they would have to do a nerve treatment because the infection had reached the nerve, but it hadn't. It hadn't gotten that far, so he did not have to have a nerve treatment.

After about an hour and a half, they called us back. We heard that he did well, only got anxious at the very beginning, but as soon as they gassed him, he was fine. They gave us our instructions (and our bill), and we waited for our boy. When he came out, he was very loopy! They told us we needed to either carry him or hold him steady while he walked. When I went to pick him up, he said, "I need to walk. It's the walk I can't resist." (ha!) And he needed to use the restroom. His daddy held tightly to him and took him to relieve himself.

Then we got him in the car to head home. He decided he needed a smoothie from YogoBerry. The doctor told him the more cold stuff he drank or ate, the better for healing. They had already given him some ice cream after the procedure. While we sat in the drive through of YogoBerry, with a very loopy boy, I took this video. We got him home and settled in, and he killed the smoothie quickly. He said he felt okay, but he said he was 'numb and wobbly'. After that smoothie, a blender and half of smoothies made at home, and FOUR bowls of Malt-O-Meal, we had our boy with the bright eyes back. With his king he is very proud of. He kept going to look in the mirror and smiling wide to see if he could see it. He wants people to be able to see it, he said.

They gave him some meds to make him forget. It seems to have worked, for the most part anyway. He asked why they didn't pull his tooth. I showed him his tooth. Then he told me he had an itch, so he scratched it, and one of the ladies told him if he did it again, she was going to take Cowboy away from him. That upset me, but I'm not sure how much of it is true, so I'm going to let it go.

He has watched the video several times and thinks it's hysterical. He has complained of no pain at all, and says he's not numb anymore.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers for our boy. All is well, and he has been kinged.

Beach Update - Day 3

Crabbing

And making their mom's day

Sum-Sum-Summertime

Summertime is here, and my kids are loving it!

Kylee headed to Pecos with Mom Mom last Saturday to see Dad Dad, who has been working so hard. She was supposed to come back Sunday, but she decided to stay and visit. She finally came home Wednesday.

Blaine was kinda stuck with the parentals because he was in the middle of baseball playoffs. Last Sunday, though, we made it fun for him, too, and invited his baseball buddies and their familes to Dad Dad and Mom Mom's for an impromptu swimming party.I'm never sure, when we get the baseball buddies together, who is having more fun, Blaine or Daddy. The sisters of the baseball buddies love Kylee so much! They were so sad she wasn't there. I was watching Leah jump in with her floaties on, and it reminded me so much of Kylee. I showed her a picture of Kylee jumping in with her floaties on (which is at Mom Mom's and I don't have a copy of), and she wanted her picture made just like Kylee. Kylee came home Wednesday, with plans to leave us again Friday to go to the beach with Dad Dad and Mom Mom. Again, Blaine was going to be stuck with us because of playoffs. On Thursday night, though, we had a heartbreaking loss that freed him up to head to Port Aransas, too. So Friday morning, they headed out for a week.

I knew they would have a great time, but the selfish side of me did not want them to go! I was pretty sure when I got this picture entitled 'Banana Split Break' on their trip up there, they were not missing us! Then when I got this picture yesterday I was sure of it.

I'm so glad they have these amazing travel opportunities and even more amazing quality time with Dad Dad and Mom Mom. But I'm lonely. FaceTime is going to be my lifesaver this week.

I wish I were 13 or 8 and could be having the time they are having! I wouldn't change it for the world for them!

Another Day, Another Dance

Friday night Kylee performed at Memorial Gym at UTEP. She performed two of her recital routines, but with just a few of the girls. They were invited by the Allegro Dance Company to perform at their recital.

Remington Update

Just thought I'd give a little update on Remington. He continued to improve throughout the week, but he was still walking like an old man. I was still not comfortable with it, and Joey thought he was constipated. Don't ask me why! Maybe that's how he feels when he's constipated. (I hope I don't get in trouble for that. I just was never sure why he thought he was. I mean, it's not like we follow him outside to see if he does his business. But to give the husband some credit, it's also not like he was moving much at all, so I guess we may have seen him do his business last week!)

ANYwho, Friday morning, I took him to see our vet. He, indeed has his usual, chronic ear infections, which they packed with an antibiotic. He was not, in fact, constipated. (Yes, there is a way to test that. I won't be going into it.) My poor little furry guy has arthritis. That's the bad news. The good news is, they do have doggie arthritis medicines. They gave him a shot of cortozone to help him feel better, and we started him on his regular regimen of the meds he will take the rest of his life.

And he is back to the Remington we know. He wags his tail, and he walks normally. He jumps up to greet us, and he is crazy about his bones. His only real complaint now is Kylee is in Pecos with Kellie, and he is going crazy looking for her. He's even gone in her room to whine. So now if we could just get our girl back in our home, we'd all be doing just great!

Thanks for praying for Remington. You know, if you did, 'cause we were on our knees a lot worried about him!

Summer 'Do

Blaine has been begging for a mohawk, just for the summer. I have never had a problem with hair. I figure if their grades, attitudes, and behavior is good, why not? Pick your battles. His Daddy, on the other hand, was totally against it. I even posted on our Facebooks to get opinions from other people. My aunt, Lori, suggested a faux hawk. Blaine was all for that, too. His Daddy, not so much!

We left it alone for a while, but after all of his awards and teeth problems and going to miss the beach with Dad Dad and Mom Mom for baseball play offs, on the second to last day of school, Blaine and I broached the subject with Daddy again...and he agreed!! Blaine got out of school yesterday at noon, and we had a haircut appointment for two.

Before shot

The making of a faux hawk
The new beloved faux hawk
He's in love with it! The first thing he said was, Can I do this every summer? The second thing he said was, Can I make it look good and fix it up before Hawaii?

On other, not so exciting news, he had his initial appointment with the pediatric dentist yesterday. Just since last week when we saw our dentist, the 'bad' tooth, the one they were going to crown, has deteriorated to the point it now has an abscess. The dentist would push on it, and say, I know that hurts, Blaine. And he would say, No it doesn't. I was told they aren't sure if he's just weird, or if he has a very high tolerance for pain because that should really hurt. So now they have to pull that tooth, and crown the one we thought they would just fill. He goes in on June 13th to have it done. They will not put him under general anesthesia, but they will sedate him. Pray for him, and I will update.

Blaine's 2nd Grade Awards

We got to attend the Red Carpet Awards, but the classroom awards were just that this year. They were in their classroom with just the students. So Blaine came home with his awards in this folder.

Front

Back
Inside the folder were his awards. I'm pretty sure this was the award he was most proud of.
He even got a Baby Ruth candy bar to go with it.

His mom, on the other hand was probably most proud of this award.

I mean, really, we all know how much I enjoy the fact that he likes to read!

He also was awarded the Anthology award, for the second year in a row, because, once again, he is a published author.

And here's the book he was published in...again.
Great job, son! We are so proud!

Middle school doesn't do awards, until you graduate from the 8th grade. But we know Kylee deserved just as many as her brother, and we couldn't be more proud of her.

So now we move to 3rd grade and 8th grade. I just threw up a little in my mouth.
