Kylee was devastated. I called Carrie and told her just to come over when Gatlin got up from his nap, and we would color eggs, since it was just going to be us. We then headed to the first of many trips to the grocery store.
We also went to get a cake for Kylee's birthday, since her birthday was Saturday, the day of the party. We had to hit the flower shop, too, for a corsage for her to wear with ribbons hanging from the bottom for people to attach money to. She's saving for a lap top, you see. After all of that, we headed to Red Lobster for her birthday lunch. (Side note: The kids always get to pick a place to eat on their actual birthday. Since her birthday was the day of the 'reunion', we told her she could go somewhere Friday or pick something when we got home. She wanted to eat at Red Lobster with Grandmommy.) My now 11-year old has a new obsessions with snow crab legs. Yes, I know, expensive taste, but a girl after her Mother's own heart!
After her birthday lunch, we headed back to the house.
Just as we got to Grandmommy's, I told the kids we could get the eggs ready, and when Carrie and the boys got there, we would start coloring. I went to the bedroom to take off my shoes, and when I came out, guess who was there?! Kyle and his family! It was an April Fool's joke. The funniest thing is, it backfired on Kellie. It was HER idea for the April Fool's joke, but then she got concerned that we would color eggs without her. We almost did, too, because Carrie and the boys walked it almost immedietly after the Taylors did.
After the kids played a bit to run off some energy,
and getting to know Noxonwe got started on the NINE dozen eggs we needed to color.
and Grandmommy did her duty with the little one.
The kids, of course, quit the eggs LONG before they were done, leaving the adults to finish them. They do it every year, and every year, we boil too many eggs for them!
