Sweet Nothings

This weekend was a weekend of sweet nothings. I never even put on make-up. That's right, not once!

Saturday morning, after the kids let me sleep until 10:30, I got up and started laundry. The boys had tball pictures scheduled at 12:30 at the park, so they left shortly after. Kylee laid on the couch all day while I picked up the house, did laundry, and laid on the bed in between.

After their pictures, Joey called and asked if Blaine could go to Carlo's house for the afternoon. I knew Blaine and Carlo had been wanting to do this for a while, and we weren't doing anything, so I agreed. Joey was supposed to meet them later at the park for a little baseball practice. I told Joey if when he met the boys, he wanted to invite them over for some hamburgers and the Yankee game, that would be fine with me. So I did shower and brush my teeth, but I did not put make-up on.

The boys came over and played
and had burgers
and smores. It was the first time Blaine was the one who had friends over, and he loved it! Kylee, not so much. I kept having to remind her that this was the first time Blaine had friends over, and she needed to respect that as much as he had to when only her friends were over. She did well after that, though. She finally went in and rented a movie and just let them play.

Sunday was another day of sweet nothings, and, again, no make up. I'd rather have that kind of sweet nothing than somebody whispering sweet nothings any day!

Summer Brain

Is there such thing as summer brain? You know, like pregnancy brain? Because I'm here to tell you, I have it!! The night before we left for Phoenix, we celebrated two of the most important people in my life. Did I blog about it? Nope! Summer brain.

Friday night, June 18th, we took Dad Dad and Mom Mom out to celebrate them. That Sunday, obviously, was Father's Day, and the 26th was Mom Mom's birthday. They got to choose where we went, and they chose the German place. The kids LOVE it there, too, because they have a "Polka DJ" who plays the Chicken Danceand the Burger Dance.

Dad Dad's "real" present hadn't come in yet (it has now and the kids can't WAIT for him to see it), so we had to improvise that night. Since we are headed to Disney World, we figured these would come in handy. We got Mom Mom those new tone-up shoes.

After the presents were opened and the food enjoyed, the kids hit the dance floor again before we left. They were so cute dancing together!

We really had fun, and we haven't seen them since! We left for Phoenix the next day, and when got back, they had left for the beach. They are supposed to be home tomorrow. Blaine told me last night he thinks it's been six months since he's seen them. That's what it feels like!

Happy Father's Day, Dad Dad, and Happy Birthday, Mom Mom!! See you tomorrow!

Rockin Back to Reality

Wednesday started out a sad day. We had to check out of our paradise and go home, back to reality, without the boys. You know, the boys, Derek, Alex, Jorge, those boys.

To cheer us up, we headed to the Rainforest Cafe for lunch before leaving. After lunch, we took the kids to the food court for desert. There, beside the food court, was a recording studio. The kids were checking it out, and I asked how much it was. It was only $20. I told the kids to pick a song they could all agree on and get in. They had to pick a background for their song and a name for the band. I present to you:

KK and the Boys

Then I decided since my boys ALWAYS sing and dance to "their" music (that I can't stand, btw), it would be nice to get it on video. So I present to you:

Sick Buddies

On the way home, Blaine was fighting sleep so hard, he had on his iPhone headphones, listening to tunes, his movie headphones with a movie on, playing his DS, and singing outloud. It worked. I had to make him turn them all off before he finally fell asleep...in Las Cruces.

Now we are back in reality dreaming of our next adventure.

Hip Hip Jorge (from the Yankees, that is!)

These are a few of our favorite things: The Hayes, the Yankees, Phoenix, and vacations. So when the Yankees were playing in Phoenix and the Hayes wanted to go watch them play with us, we were so in!

Saturday we were on our way! We traveled most of the day, so we had a low-key dinner at the Yard House and hung out at the room.

Sunday was Father's Day, so we had to carry our gifts with us. The kids woke up Joey with his,and he wore the little special one from his daughter for the day. (My dad shoulda had one of these! I LOVE it!)

After just chilling for the morning, (This is where the boys were every morning before everybody else got up, playing their DS's) we headed to see Toy Story 3 in 3D, did a little grocery shopping for the room, and headed to Chelsea's Kitchen for an early Father's Day Dinner. Kylee even celebrated a bit by having filet mignon off of the adult menu! I have to say she ate EVERY bite (except the one her Mom took to try it). Then we headed back to the room for some hot tub time before bed.

Monday, the day we'd all been waiting for, GAME DAY! We spent the early part of the day in the pool since the boys decided we needed to leave for the game four hours before even started to beat the traffic and see batting practice. So after getting spiffied up in our respective team gear, we headed out. There was NO traffic, and we ended up having to sit outsidein the Arizona heat, which I'm pretty sure is close to the temperatures of hell as I hope to ever feel, and wait for the doors to open. Let me tell you, though, when we got in the door and those Yankees walked out on the field and I saw my baby boy's face when he saw them, I would have sat IN hell just to give him that experience. He saw all of his favorite players! Derek Jeter Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada. He was in heaven! Monday night line-up

Believe it or not, Kylee enjoyed herself, too.She and Katy were much more interested in the food, drinks, picture taking and people watching, but they enjoyed it all the same.

Before we left for Phoenix, I had gotten an email from a friend saying her brother had extra tickets to the game if I wanted them. I figured it would be a nice way for Joey to spend Father's Day with his Dad, since his Dad LOVES the Yankees and baseball, too. So Papa and Nana ended up driving up, too. The Yankees lost Monday night, but just being there was unbelievable!

Tuesday, since we weren't going to the game SO early and because the being in the sun and pool all afternoon had made the boys a little crabby for a late night, we decided to stay indoors for the day. We had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, and then Lisa wanted to take me to Teavana. I found my new vice! We went in there, tasted teas, smelled teas, mixed teas, and I LOVED it! I left there a two-fisted tea drinker! Then it was on to something for the kids. Katy informed me that these cupcakes will "change your life." I wasn't in the mood for a cupcake, though, so I went next door, and I was back in heaven.

Then it was back to the ballpark for Tuesday night's lineup. A Rod hit a homerun and brought he and Jeter in for two runs. The Yankees won, and it was an awesome game and an awesome end to our first New York Yankee experience!

Ball Player at Heart

March 2009

June 2010

Mom Mom came over Tuesday morning while I went to work so the kids could sleep late. When I picked them up that afternoon, I noticed Blaine was wearing some clothes from a pile I had put aside for Gatlin, size 3T. Granted, they still fit. They didn't look to small, but he's SIX!

Anyway, when I told him they were out for Gatlin, he said, I wanna save my clothes for my kids. I said, Really? How many kids are you gonna have? He said, Probably three. I said, What will their names be? He said, Derek Jeter Onick, Alex Rodriguez Onick, and Jorge Posada Onick!

A ball player at heart!

Balmorhea Bound

Our annual Balmorhea trip was wonderful, as usual. And as usual, we
jumped off the high board,
played with cousins,
went with Dad Dad to see the fishies,
visited with Granny,
laughed,
chilled with Dad Dad and Mom Mom,

watched Kyle grill,

hung out by the pool,

and fed the fish.
And as usual, we were not ready to leave. Blaine said, "Just when I'm starting to love this place, we leave." So until next time, Balmorhea was as usual.

And the winner is.....

WE
ARE
THE CHAMPIONS!!!
