Blaine had a GREAT time at his first dance Friday. He even went through the haunted house, escorted by his loving sister. He danced, but he said he forgot to dance with Patty. Then this morning he asked me who he should marry, Patty or Abby. Before I could answer, he said, "Maybe I just need to think about it a while since you said I can only marry one girl." I assured him he had plenty of time!
Kylee seemed to enjoy her first event as Student Council President. She didn't even have to go to class Friday because she had to host the dance. And her teacher was the DJ, so it was a joint effort in that affair of the heart. As she is with everything in the 5th grade it seems, though, it was anticlimatic, at least that's the way she ACTS!
Saturday morning was Blaine's first play-off game, which they lost. He wasn't feeling well, bless his heart, and it looks as though he won't get to play tonight. I just have to keep reminding myself that he won't be as disappointed as I will and it won't even be something in his life he remembers.
After the game, we went out to wish Papa a Happy Birthday and see Aunt Jackie before we went Trick or Treating. As Papa opened his present Joey didn't even realize I had a surprise for all the boys. There was actually a present for all three genereations in the box.
Since they all three love baseball and all three were the number 9, I got these hoodies. Joey never asked me what we got his Dad, so it was a real surprise to all three. Yay, me! (tee hee) The kids are always happy to see Aunt Jackie!
After we wished Papa a Happy Birthday, the kids were DYING to go Trick or Treating, so we headed to the Hayes. I HATE Halloween and have always managed, because it falls on a week night and because it's Papa's birthday, to get out of Trick or Treating. I usually take them to the First Baptist CHurch for their fall fair. But this year, there was NO getting out of it, so....Here are all the kids as we are getting ready to head out. Gionni's (the scary clown) costume totally creeped us ALL out!
The kids headed out like they didn't need to watch for cars, didn't need to stay together, and didn't need adult supervision. It cracked us up when Coach/Daddy Shawn decided to pull them in for some instruction.
But they listened well, and the rest of the trick or treating went well .....for the kids at least. This guy kept following us and was creeping the moms out.....BAD!!!
This, of course, was after we dropped the dads off with the tired boys and took the girls up to another house they wanted to see. He followed us for BLOCKS. He was scary!
After the candy-gathering, we headed back to the Hayes' house for nachos and the baseball game and lots of playing. It was a great time.
Happy Halloween, Everybody, and Happy Birthday, Papa!
