NYC Adventure - Day 6

Kylee's Day. My sweet girl. My amazing big sister. My firstborn with a heart of gold. Day 6 was her day.

Because Papa and Nana were "late additions" to our trip, we already had tickets for Kylee's day and weren't able to change them. So Wednesday morning, Nana took Papa to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island while the boys swam. Kylee dressed Sparkle, and she and I hailed a cab to the American Girl Store.I expected greatness, but not three stories of greatness.I think we went up and down the three stories about ten times just looking.

Our first stop was the photography studio.
While we were there, we learned that Sparkle's head was a little loose. Not really a shock since Kylee has had her for nine years, but we took a trip to the infirmary. Kylee quickly informed me that if she had to be checked in to the hospital, that wasn't ok with her. If they check your baby into the hospital, they take them for weeks and then ship them home. Luckily, Sparkle wasn't checked in,just treated on site. What a relief.

Kylee was a little disappointed Sparkle doesn't have any hair when she saw all the mommies taking their babies to the hair salon. Sparkle wanted her ears pierced, but her mother thought that was an awful idea. Kylee shopped like a typical mother, so after taking inventoryof what she was actually going to purchase for her, combining all the money from her piggie bank, what Dad Dad and Mom Mom had given her, and what I told her I would contribute, she narrowed down her selections, made her purchases, and we jumped back in a cab, loot in tow, to pick up the boys for the next part of her day.

Kylee has told us for years she is going to teach school during the day and dance on Broadway at night. I think she's beginning to realize that may not be possible, but we will see. Her next pick was a Broadway show. Of course, Blaine begged her to see Spiderman, but it was her day, and she got to pick. She picked. I hadn't seen it either and was excited, too. I took this"illegal" picture (no photos inside) when we sat down.

What an amazing show! Not only did I love the experience of Broadway, it was so heightened by going with Kylee. She laughed and snickered and gasped and frowned and went through all the emotions as the show played out. Blaine actually watched the whole thing, too, with no requests for a bathroom break.

When we walked in, we had seen some props, etc, but Kylee just wasn't interested because she didn't know what they were. As we left, though, sheenjoyed them.

After the show, we met back up with Papa and Nana for a carriage ride through Central Park. We were disappointed to learn they can only take 4 on the ride, but it gave me an opportunity for pictures as my kidsstrapped in their kids, and the grandparentspiled in for the ridethrough Central Park.

We then made our second trip to Blaine really wanted to take Papathere, and on her day, Kylee consented. She probably had thisin mind when she did. That girl just can't resist a good dessert!

After supper, we made our last stop per Kylee's request on her day, the Disney Store,Times Square style, before headingback to the room to call it a night. We thought. The kids wanted to go swimming. It was already 9:30, but we took them anyway. After all, day 7, although way exciting (just wait!), was not too jam-packed.
