Fibromyalgia and Stomach bugs SUCK!!!
I AM I AM going to get pictures and a blog about Blaine's birthday up. It was fun; everybody enjoyed. Blaine woke up Saturday night (after the party) at midnight puking his guts up...bless his heart. He puked all day Sunday (his 5th birthday :()I have to say, though, I have NEVER met ANYBODY, big or small that handled puking as well as this boy does! He would just sit up, say, "I'm gonna puke again!", puke, lay back down and say, "I'm gonna try to sleep before I have to puke again." It was so matter of fact. I'm so proud of the little guy. And last week but ESPECIALLY Sunday and Monday, my vertigo and headaches have really kicked my butt. I'm feeling a little better today, got a new medicine from the doc this morning, and I promise to get the pictures up tomorrow....or at least before Kylee's birthday this weekend.

Braces and Balls
It was a big day yesterday in our house!
Kylee got her braces off after 20 months. She has to go back next week to get her retainer, but she has "slimy" teeth now.
BEFORE
AFTER
Blaine's first t-ball game of the season was last night. They won 28-3, and it WASN'T because they played an awesome game. The poor other team looked like every single one of them had JUST turned four, and it appeared as if they had never practiced. They would run from first to third or home to third. One poor little guy slid into third base on his face. Here's a little video of our slugger.
SECOND BASEMAN
Oh, and don't forget the cheerleaders. Kylee and these girls made up their own cheers during the games last season and now are regular little cheerleaders. I was going to get a video of them, but my battery died, so here is a picture. I promise I will get a video of Kylee loaded soon.

Home Again Home Again Jiggity Jig
We've had a nice little break for four nights while the kids stayed with Pops and Dawn in Midland. We went and saw movies that WEREN'T rated G, talked about the kids, just went and browsed in stores for as long as we wanted, wondered about the kids, ate what we wanted WHEN we wanted, missed the kids, and went to Starbucks on beautiful evenings and drank coffee and played Yahtzee. It was a nice break, but I was sssoo ready for my kids to come home.
We went to Pecos today to meet Dawn and pick them up. We had lunch with Kyle's family and let the kids play awhile and then headed home.
I felt like my kids have always been close and loving, but it's like the only thing that was familiar this week was each other, and now they seem -- I don't know -- closer? Listening to them talk to each other in the backseat was, somehow, different. Maybe it's just that they are a little older, or maybe it's just because they did stuff together that I wasn't involved in. It was just different. Nice! Sweet!
Then Blaine didn't keep her secret, and all hell broke loose. He was bathing, and, of course, she wasn't in the room. I asked him about his week, and he said, "Mommy, the roping was bad, really bad." I said, "Really? What happened?" He WHISPERED, "Diddy pooped in her pants just a little bit. Just a little bit, Mommy, don't be mad at her." LOL LOL Kylee comes walking in about that time, and I asked her what happened. She, of course, starts bawling, losing her mind. She looked right at him and said, "You broke our secret! You promised!"
I told her it wasn't a big deal; we've all done it. She told me that Pops was roping, and Dawn wasn't there. She couldn't find a bathroom and there were no adults to talk to. She tried to hold it, but just a little bit came out. She told me the only bathroom was a horse trailer, and, "I'm a city girl, not a country girl like you! Country girls can poop in horse trailers, but I'm a city girl, and I just can't do it!"
I calmed her down, and now all is well. The kids are in their OWN beds, and I'm headed to mine.
Thank God for nice breaks, great children, and bringing our family back together and whole!

P.S. .... MagiQuest
I forgot one of the "gooder" parts of our trip. The hotel had this game called MagiQuest. You bought swords or wands that they activated and then sent you on a quest. You had to go all over the hotel, all 8 floors, and find your next clue. It sent you to crytals and pixies and all sorts of cool stuff. If you were at the wrong treasure chest or wherever you were supposed to be, it would talk to you and say something like, "Sorry, Magi. You have not completed all tasks required to reach this level." If you had the right clue, it would say something like, "Congratulations, Magi, now move on to....blah blah blah." The kids LOVED it!!
Blaine got so into it that he had a whole little process he went through before he pointed his wand at the object. Soo funny!

Katy
Please pray for our friend, Katy. She was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes day before yesterday. Yesterday she was admitted to ICU because her blood sugars were over 400, and she was going into shock. She's nine. She's stabilized today but has a lot to learn to deal with at nine. She will be insulin dependant for the rest of her life.
Thanks!
Spring Break 2009
We just got back from a whirlwind trip to Dallas for a short spring break. We left Friday afternoon, drove to Midland, spent the night with Pops and Dawn, and then drove the rest of the way to Dallas Saturday morning. We checked into the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, and then sped off to watch the Dallas Stars play the Minnesota Wild.
It was really dumb for us to check into the hotel stuff and show the kids all the GREAT stuff they were going to get to do.....tomorrow! This place has an indoor water park, a kiddie spa, ice cream shop, pizza hut, restaurants, you name it right in the hotel. This is what the kids saw through a huge glass window as we were checking in.
Our room had a "tent" in it just for them.
Needless to say, the hockey game didn't sound NEAR as exciting as it did the whole way there, but we went anyway. By the time we got to the American Airlines Center, they were really excited about hockey again. The game was great, went into over time, and the Stars won. Yeah!
Everybody, of course, had a different highlight of the game. Blaine's was being just like his daddy!
Kylee's was being just like her Mommy.
Yes, I know, I know! Call CPS!! This margarita was like Kool-Aid. She could have had the whole thing and felt nothing. She just got ONE drink!!
Anyway, we headed back to Great Wolf and settled in for the next two days. This waterpark was awesome! The kids LOVED it, and are already talking about "next time we come." The waterpark was only ONE of their favorite things.
Kylee got a facial.
Blaine loved the funnnel cakes (which are on my mom's waterproof camera). And the whole family got inked. hehe
AND I got to see a good friend.
We had great meals and great fun and thank God for the resources to do it!
We drove back to Midland Tuesday night, and now the kids are at Pops and Dawn's for the rest of the week. It seems so weird with no children, and I have all this time on my hands. I had to register Blaine for Kinder :(( this morning, and I was supposed to be there at 8. I got up 30 minutes later than I normally do, thinking that would compensate....ha! These kids take up WWAAYY more time than I realized. I was ready by 7:15. The school is like 3 minutes from the house. Oh, well! Maybe that's why this post is so long ;)

Pick your battles
Tonight I went to get Blaine's prescription (ALONE) and decided I'd run get me a new book and a Starbucks "feel good." (See post below) I was gone a little less than an hour, and my phone rings. It's Kylee. She says, "Mom, where are you?" I said, "I'm on my way home. Why?" She says, "I need help with my homework." I said, "And your dad can't help you?" Then I realized that I had asked her an HOUR ago to do her homework, so I continue, "And why are you just now doing your homework." My NINE-year old says, "Well, I was sitting on the couch watching TV, and I said, 'Oh, shit (yes, shit. she said shit), I forgot to do my homework." I said, "You said what?" Silence. No response. I said, "Did you say what I think you just said?" She said, "Nope." I said, "Okay. I'll be right there."
Pick your battles, Mommies!

Cabin Fever
Blaine's asthma has been kicking his butt since Friday. Well, it probably started a couple of days before that, but by Friday the poor boy could not breathe. I had done the little asthma mom tricks here at home and knew it was time for pediatrician help. The doc said if I hadn't been dealing with asthmatic kiddos for the last 10 years, he'd put him in the hospital, but if I was comfortable and not scrared, he'd leave him at home and let me administer steriods. He upped his breathing treatments to every TWO hours AROUND THE CLOCK, and off we went. For those of you who don't have asthmatic kids, you have to keep them from doing anything that makes them breathe harder, since they are fighting to breathe anyway, and you give them medicine that keeps them wound tighter than a three day clock. By Sunday, this poor boy had cabin fever. I decided to let him go outside for a little bit with his sister with strict rules not to run, jump, skip, etc. He was outside 15 minutes, just basically sitting in the driveway running cars down the driveway while his sister brought them back to him, and he had a coughing fit and couldn't breathe. AND we were out of steriods. I figured we were headed to the hospital. I took him in this morning, and found out that he now has an upper respitory infection with his ears, nose, and throat also infected. When we left the doctor, I explained to him it would be another few days of no breathing hard. He said, "I'm going crazy. I'm about to start jumping around." ;) It is now 4:00 Monday afternoon, and he has been inside since Thursday night. I walk into the living room to find this :

Delayed reaction
Kylee has been trying to get over a sinus/throat infection for about two weeks. Friday night it traveled down into her lungs and set her asthma off. Saturday morning, I cancelled all our plans to stay home with her. Since we were home, I painted Blaine's room, which he's been wanting done since Christmas. It's not what I would have done, but it is his room, and he picked it. Two walls are tan and two walls are blue. The blue is gorgeous, and I wish he had let me do his whole room in it, but.... He wanted to help me, which I THOUGHT would last all of ten minutes, but he stuck it out to the end.
Sunday after church, Kylee was feeling better and wanted to go to the Olive Garden for lunch. Blaine was imitating her every move and word. She did real well igonoring him for a while. Then she screamed, "Blaine, quit intimidating me. *smirk*
I was cleaning out my refrigerator, and packing up all the leftovers to take to work for them to be finished off yesterday. Blaine just watched what I was doing and then said, "You must be REALLY hungry for lunch, Mommy!" I laughed, of course, and said, "No, Blaine. I'm just taking all these leftovers for the girls at work to eat." He said, "Why are you feeding them lunch? They aren't your kids."
