The morning after Kellie's birthday party, we left Pecos headed for Mustang Island for our family vacation. The first day, obviously it was a long drive, so we got there late. We just checked into our condo, which was AWESOME! It had two bedrooms, two bathroom, a full kitchen, dining area, living room, and balcony.

The "main" room of the condo.
Because of the full kitchen, we decided to head to the grocery store. We had to take the ferry, which had a long line. As we were sitting in line at the ferry, Blaine decided to "drive." Joey was telling him to give the passersby the peace sign. This is what he was doing.
We crossed on the ferry, and there were dolphins jumping. They were so fast, though, I didn't get any pictures.

When we got back to the condo, the kids and Joey went and played on the really cool play area right outside our condo, while I unloaded groceries, cut up fruit, and made dinner. That play area ended up being a real challenge for Kylee! Before we left, though, she had perfected what she set out to do!
The next three days, we literally spent ON the beach from sun up to sun down. The pictures are kind of repetitive because we basically did the same thing every day. Nobody was bored with it, and it was WONDERFUL. We got up, ate breakfast, set up camp and hung out on the beach. We boogy boarded
played with imaginary friends
n
chilled out
buried each other
built things
played catch
sucked shrimp and fed them to the birds
danced
and even played hosts to bees one day at our camp.
We did go out to eat one night, just to check out the nightlife (hehe).

And who goes to the beach WITHOUT getting tatoos? Not the Onick family!
On our last night, we even stayed PAST sundown, built a campfire on the beach, invited Aunt Charlene and her family, and made smores! I actually have some REALLY good pictures of the fire and making smores, but I was warned if some certain knees showed up on this blog, some certain person wouldn't be happy. So here's just a picture of Joey building the campfire.
Blaine had told Aunt Charlene early in the night that he was going to go back to her room with her to see her room. He talked about it all night. By the end of the night, after being at the beach three FULL days, in the sun three FULL days, he just couldn't do it. He told her he was sorry, but he was too tired. He didn't even make it through his breathing treatment that night.
And that picture pretty much sums up how we ALL felt on the last day of our wonderfully relaxing stay at the beach.
The next morning we headed to San Antonio to put Joey on a plane back home to work while the kids and I stayed there with Kyle and his family. Stay tuned.
