He's baaack

Wednesday morning Blaine was released from the prison sentence the doctors called a broken collar bone. Hip Hip Hooray!! (Or Hip Hip Jorge, as it's said around this Yankee home) That night he and Joey and Kylee joined Carlo and his boys at the park to play, and play they did. First day back in it, and Blaine comes home with a bloody elbow. But he LOVED it...and he slept all night, which he had stopped doing.

He's been NONSTOP ever since. I know it's because he's had NOwhere to release his energy. He was getting in more trouble at school and home. He would go to bed at the normal time, but be up at 3 or 4 in the morning ready for the day to start. He just wasn't getting tired enough. That problem is solved.

Saturday morning, he was up at 6:30, whispering in my ear, "Mommy, get up. It's my first game today. Be excited!" He and I got up, had our Saturday morning coffee, and got excited. Joey got up, got him dressed, and took him for warm-up, while I ran to Dad Dad and Mom Mom's, where Kylee spent the night, to take her some clothes.

Joey called. The other team had forfeited. There would be no game for Blaine that day.

He handled it well. Joey decided to have practice instead, so the boys headed to the park. They were there from 10 to 2. I went out to check on them and ended up playing too. It was fun.

Last night, though, he finally got to play in a game. It was against the Gators, the team we beat last year for the championship, so it was extra sweet for him. He was a-ma-zing, that boy! He played like he hadn't been gone..for the most part. He was a little nervous at first, but then he got into the swing of things.

Then he got spiked (where a kid slides into the base, and his cleats went into Blaine's leg), and I freaked, almost puked. But other than a big bruise on his leg, he's fine. It took him a few minutes, but he sucked it up and kept playing. He got several outs, including a double play on a fly ball. He's back in it!

Play ball!
