Kylee, Terry (the lady who has kept BOTH kids since they were born), and I went to see Hairspray last night at the Plaza. Yes, I know, all you teacher friends, that today is the TAKS, but I DID NOT know that when booking the tickets. We went, and it was a great time. There is nothing better than watching that kind of thing through your child's eyes.

It won't be like this for long
If I could freeze time, I TOTALLY would!! These kids are so much fun! They are young enough to still call me Mommy, hold my hand, even if front of their friends, and think I'm cool. They are old enough to play with each other, entertain themselves, and actually enjoy being brother and sister.
I went on Kylee's field trip with her class Friday to see Earth and eat lunch at Peter Piper Pizza. She was so excited that I was there! I was even a bit surprised at HOW excited she was. Thrilled, but shocked. My sleeper child got up EARLY because she was so excited. At times she would hold my hand, kiss me, and act like she couldn't get enough of me. At other times, she was so involved in what was going on with the other kids, she forgot I was even there. It was PERFECT, just the way I would want it. It was really interesting for me to watch her interact with the other kiddos, and them her, at the time she forgot I was even around. I can't wait for next year....IF I'm "allowed" to go.
Blaine had a great t-ball game Saturday. Joey said to me Friday night (because the last three games we've been KILLED), "I really hope we get a team with some young kids on it. It sure would be nice to kick somebody's ass." hehe Which is EXACTLY what we did. Blaine is playing short-stop and TOTALLY obsessed with baseball. He is our first batter (according to him it's because he's the "goodest" batter), and this other team took a LONG time to get in the outfield. Blaine was always standing at home waiting on them to get out so he could bat. It was so entertaining to watch him talk to Max (his imaginary friend since he was 18 months old, for those of you who haven't met Max). He would be totally immersed in conversation with Max, but you could tell it was totally related to baseball. Then all of a sudden, he would just step back, take a few steps, and throw his imaginary ball. Priceless. He got three outs this game, and when the game was over, I told him, "You did so good today, Buddy. I saw you get those guys out. I'm so proud." My five-year-old-going-on-15-year-old said, "I was just doing my job, Mom. That's my job."
Sunday night, both kids were upstairs playing while Joey and I were downstairs. They really did play well together for hours. Listening to them laugh, talk, and play with each other was so sweet. Of course, it didn't last forever. Blaine came to tell us that his sister had played HIS video game, and then turned it off, but now wouldn't let HIM have a turn. I told him to ask her to come here. He turned and walked away to go tell her. I heard nothing else, but right before Kylee's face appeared before me, I heard her say, "Gosh, TATTLETALE!"
Kylee and I are going to see Hairspray on stage at the Plaza tonight. I will post pictures tomorrow.

It's that word again!!!
Shit. That's the word. I've GOT to quit saying it! I have improved my language so much in the last five years, but that one....well, I guess it's just hereditary. Since Granny K said it, it must not be a cuss word....right? Evidentally, my children feel the same way. (see previous blog Pick Your Battles).
Anyway, we went to Coldwater Creek to get Joey's mom a birthday present. Blaine was riding on Joey's shoulders, holding a Happy Meal toy. He dropped it, and in the middle of Coldwater Creek, he says, in his 'outside' voice, "Aww, shit!" Joey says, "Blaine, what did you say?" Blaine says, again, "Aww, shit!" Joey says, "Blaine, did you mean shoot." "Nope. I said shit. Why? Is that a bad word or someping?"
THEN we took the kids to see 17 Again (NO! I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS PG-13 until I started seeing things that made me wonder, so I checked my ticket). When the movie was over, Joey asked Blaine, "What'd you think of all that kissing?" Blaine said, "I thought it was a bunch of crap!"
SHIT!!!! What's up with these words?

Easter Extravaganza
Okay. I know it's 10 days after Easter, but I've been really busy working on a Mother's Day gift. I can't say what it is because my Mom reads this blog, but it had to be finished by yesterday for free shipping (and we all know how I am about paying for shipping), so every spare moment I have had the last 10 days has been spent finishing this project. I finished it last night in the nick of time for free shipping, so now I'm free to catch up on whatever else in my life needs to be done.
We went to Clovis for our annual Easter with Grandmommy. As usual, it was Easter in the Artic, so if you notice on Easter Sunday in the pictures Kylee and I are in jeans, well, it was just too darn cold to wear our dresses and cute sandals. One of these days I'm going to learn just to get cute Easter-colored parkas! It's ridiculous. Oh, well, I'll just be happy it didn't snow and remember the reason we celebrate Easter. Up from the grave he arose, with a mighty trimph over his foes......
And now just a couple of pictures I thought you needed to see. This first one is just so sweet. Kylee was teaching Blaine how to play a game.
And the last one is just of Blaine, who was riding his scooter at Dad Dad and Mom Mom's house and ate the concrete. His lip got way worse before it got better, but when his Daddy told him Mommy was gonna flip and the boys at teeball thought it looked cool, it was all good!

Kylee's 10th Birthday
My baby girl is 10!!! We went out to eat on Friday night for her birthday dinner at Olive Garden. On Saturday, she had a "rock star" Birthday party at Justice. It was so much fun! They didn't have cool stuff like that when I was ten. It's pretty pricey, though, she only got to have five girls. Once they were there, it seemed like you really wouldn't want much more than that. They got their hair and make-up done, and they got the headset of a rockstar. Then they got to go shopping with their bags from a section of the store. After that, they played charades and Hannah (instead of Simon) Says. The two top winners got to be the 'captains' and pick a team. Come to find out, the teams made up a dance to a song and then had a contest that Mom judges. (It was a tie.) Then we all headed back to our house for cake and ice cream. The girls continued to sing and dance and laugh and play. The party started at noon, and nobody wanted to leave, so finally at 6:00, I had to tell them it was over. It was great fun, and I was mom of the year for the day.

Yee Haw Birthday Dinner
Friday night before his birthday on Sunday, Blaine left Cowboy (the stuffed dog) at Dad Dad and Mom Mom's house. As his Daddy went to go get it, I laid in bed with him for some "pillow talk." He kept asking me to tell him about the weekend. "Mommy, tell me about my party tomorrow." So I told him. Then he said, "And tell me about my birthday the next day when I'm five." I told him that after church, he could pick where we would have his birthday dinner. He was so excited!
Saturday night at midnight when he woke up puking, the Sunday plans kinda went down the drain. Honestly, I thought he felt so bad, he had just forgotten about it. WRONG! About 5:30 Sunday evening (he quit puking about noon but still wasn't eating), he announces that it is time to go to Logan's for his birthday. I told him that since he had been sick, I promised we would go the next day. He was so upset and told me that I had told him that he could make the decisions on his birthday, which I had. I said, "Blaine, you're not even eating. You don't feel good. Let's just wait until tomorrow, and I PROMISE we will go." He said, "I don't have to eat! Let's just go and let them sing Happy Birthday to me and say Yee Haw!" Bless his heart.
We didn't go Sunday night, but we did go Monday night. THey came out, sang Happy Birthday, said Yee Haw, and then wanted their picture take with the birthday boy.
(Yes, it's the same night. He just changed clothes while we were waiting on dinner becuase he had a tee ball game.)

Blaine's Party
Blaine had a Power Ranger themed party this year with a jumping balloon with a slide in it, and all his friends from Terry's came. He had a big time, even if he did wake up at midnight puking and puked every 30 minutes for 12 hours, all the way in to his 5th birthday.
The cake consisted of a cake on top of a cake. The helmet was it's own cake, and Blaine insisted that that WHOLE piece be his!
