Dear God

Thank you for this day. Thank you for Mommy and Daddy and Diddy. Thank you for God and Jesus and the Bible.

This is how Blaine's prayer starts every night. Sometimes that's all we get. Most of the time it's not. He thanks Him for everything he can think of that has happened that day. Sometimes it's, Thank you for tball, or, Thank you for the people we love and don't love. (yes, he says and don't love)

Tonight I know he's been listening in class. Because tonight he said, "And thank you for Martha. You know, God, Martha that married George Washington."

Three LIttle Pigs

Blaine came home with a project. He bugged and bugged Mom Mom to help him do it right now, which is so unlike him. He will put homework off as long as I'll let him, but he wanted to do this one right away! So she helped him color and make his puppets.

When I got there, I kept asking him what he had for snack, what he drank, etc, because that boy was wIrEd!! He and Kylee put the show on several time for us, so after showers and before bedtime, I asked them to do it so I could video it. I present to you:

The Three Little Pigs

And, no, Kylee's glasses are not real. She's been begging for these glasses from Claire's for MONTHS. Now I can't get them off of her!

SweetTarts

Do you love SweetTarts? I hate them. I hate sour. Period. Even if you get to the sweet center after the sour, I hate sour. So when I eat candy, it is sweet. That's my decision. Too bad I don't get to make the same decision in life. I want the sweet, please, no sour. Life is a SweetTart, sweet and sour. And I still hate sour, but the sweet, the sweet is oh so sweet.

So here is our SweetTart of a week.

Friday Kylee had her first middle school dance. She got up early to curl her hair and everything. When I told her to come downstairs so I could take her picture before school, Blaine said, "Ok, Mommy, do you want me to get by the door?" I didn't have the heart to tell him I wanted a picture of his sister on her special day. Plus, I can never have too many pictures of thishandsome guy, can I?
So many firsts, so sweet for them, and a little sour but mostly sweet for their mom, who does NOT want them to grow up, but is so proud of who they are becoming. (The dance was "boring", and she called to be picked up early.)

They also had their well-"baby" checkups Friday. They both had their hearing and eyes checked, which they both passed with flying colors. Blaine was so excited to do it, too. I think he's just getting old enough to remember from one year to the next, because he does not remember doing it last year.

At 11 years and 5 months old, Kylee is 54.5 inches tall and weighs 64 pounds. That puts her in the 12th percentile of her height, and the 5th percentile of her weight. Yes, I have little kiddos. (Sweet...hehe) Dr. Patel said he is not concerned about her, doesn't think she's malnutritioned or anything, but he does want her to gain a little weight. He said he understands they are both little kids, but her percentages in height and weight need to be closer together. He suggested she drink Carnation Instant Breakfasts in her milk for extra protein. When he said it, Kylee said, "Oh, I'm a big fan of protein! I like steak and bacon and all meats. I'm a big fan of protein!" He laughed and told her as active as she was, she just burned all that off and needed a little extra boost. She told him, "I just don't want to be fat!" (SOUR!) He assured her that she would NOT be fat! (Sweet!)
At 6 years and five months old, Blaine is 44.8 inches tall and weighs 42 pounds. They puts him in the 19th percentile of his height and 17 percentile of his weight. Still small, but because they are closer together, he's not having to be a bigger protein fan than he already is. (Sweet!)
Both are very healthy (sweet), but Kylee had to get shots (sour).

On Saturday, after Blaine, once again, had to sit on the sidelines and only watch the tball game (sour), Dad Dad and Mom Mom called and wanted to take them to the movies. (Sweet) After the movie, the kids talked them into taking them to Target to get new food for their kitchen. (Sweeter!) And then Kylee helped me cook supper. She marinated the tenderloin for me.

So see, all in all, the sweet outweighs the sour...but I'm still not having sour with my candy!

Minus One Squared

We are missing one all the way around today.

McKenzie's birthday party is this weekend, but because Blaine broke his collar bone, we didn't go. I figured he couldn't do ANYTHING there. He couldn't ride the buggy with Michael. He couldn't slide down the water slide. He couldn't fish. And he couldn't hit the pinata. Kylee, on the other hand could do it all, so she went with Mom Mom and Dad Dad. She has been as big a trooper as Blaine through this whole experience. It's obviously been pretty much about Blaine this week, but she is only worried about him. She texted me while we were at the ER. She offered to carry his bags to school, and she even texted me after I dropped him off to see how he did getting out of the car. She makes a Mama proud!

While we totally miss her while she's gone, she's obviously not missing us quite as much. These are just some of the texts I've gotten in the 24 hours she's been gone.Yup, she's obviously not
missing us so much, but I'm so glad she's having a great time. And I know with the two she's with, it's probably a lot about her there!

Our other minus one? The Rangers are missing Blaine. When we first got to the game today(ok, ok, and before!) I was a little worried about how he would feel about it all. But again, he stepped up to the plate, although not literally, and was such a good sport. He got the team in their batting line up, and although he didn't play, he was still very much a part of that team!

By the time we left the ball game, though, he had done a little too much, and it hurt even to walk. Have no fear! Papa is here!

Another First...A Broken Bone

Ah, yes, another first. Only this is NOT first we are excited about.

Tuesday night when Blaine and Joey got home from tball practice, Blaine was holding his shoulder. Joey went and got him some ice to put on it. When I asked what happened, he acted like it was no big deal. He said, "Oh the boys were playing after practice and he fell." I figured it was no big deal.

I tried feeding Blaine supper; he wanted no part of it. Any time anybody would get near him, he would scream. I started thinking this was not like him. When I asked Joey how he fell, he didn't really know becuase he hadn't seen it. (We have since found out from the boys and one of the dads that the boys were holding hands and spinning in a circle. Blaine fell, and the boys were still holding his hands. He hit the ground just right.) When we tried to look at his shoulder, he wouldn't let us take his shirt off, and he would scream. As long as he was still, he seemed ok, but any movement at all, he freaked!

I told Joey this was just not like him, and I felt like something was really wrong. We packed up Kylee, took her to Mom Mom's, and headed to the ER. After our three hour wait, a slingand an x-ray, we know that his clavicle (collar bone) is broken. He LOVED that his shark tooth necklace showed up in his x-ray!

He has been SUCH trooper, y'all. He makes me so proud. We got home from the ER about 12:30 and put him to bed. Sleep is really the hardest thing because he rolls over on it, and it really hurts. He's called out my name in the night three to five times since Tuesday, but I don't mind. He has been so good about it all.

Wednesday morning, I called our pediatrician, had the x-rays transferred to his office, and waited for a call back. Blaine wanted me to make sure he saw his shark tooth necklace in the x-ray. While we waited for the call back, Blaine watched TV, played cars and iPod, but he never complained.

The pediatrician called, confirmed it was broken, and wanted him seen by an orthopedic surgeon that day. When I told Blaine we needed to go, he was so upset. He just kept saying, "I just need to be in my home!" He didn't cry, didn't throw a fit, though. He went. When the orthopedist walked in and said, "How are you, Buddy?" Blaine said, "I'm ok. I broke my bone, but I just want to go to my home." The surgeon told us it was a clean break (the ONLY thing my son does clean is break his bones, but at this point, I'll take it!) and he would not need surgery! Yay!

I finally got to take Blaine to his home to stay. I didn't send him to school Thursday either because I just felt like he needed to rest and let it be a little less tender. Plus, I was scared to death somebody was going to hurt him! I guess it's just the mom in me.

Thursday night, I took Blaine to see his buddies at tball during practice. They were all so happy to see him! It's going to be a LONG six weeks keeping him from playing with those guys! When Joey came home from practice, he brought a card that all the boys signed. (I just went to take a picture of it, but my camera battery is dead, so I will post it here later.) Blaine kept looking at it, holding it, rubbing it. He said, "Mommy, this card really does make me feel better."

SO proud of this boy with a broken collar bone!

Himalaya? Familia? Javelina!!

Saturday afternoon after Blaine's game, we headed to the ranch to meet Kyle and his family. It doesn't matter that we had just seen them, the kids were so excited to see each other again.

After McKenzie and Blaine checked out Nin Nin's fat cat and we had a little supper, the guys headed out to do some spotlighting, and we laid in bed and let the kids take turn telling stories. They were very creative! Kellie started hers with, "It was a warm, August night..." hehe Then we did a little dancingbefore bed before a big day.

We got up, had a little breakfast, and off we went. We did some exploring
some animal calling and searching
and some shooting

I got my hair done at Kenzie's salonwhere the only question was, "Do you want it sexy or not sexy?" And the hunters checked out their kill.
This one was a prairie dog, who just happened to be pregnant. Gross, very gross. The kids were FASCINATED! And this one....well, it depended on who you asked. Kylee said it was a himalaya. McKenzie said it was a familia. I'm going with it.

After our adventures of the day, the rest of the clan joined us for Ronald's annual weenie roast and smores cookout We all had a great time and are looking forward to next year!

Payin' For the Raisin'

When it rains, it pours. Not only did Kyle and Myra come in this weekend, but so did Aunt Jackie. Blaine had a tball game and a birthday party (which he missed), and Kylee had dance (which she missed) and a birthday party. Joey and I had all of the above with the kids, a birthday party of our own Friday night, and a wedding Saturday night (which we missed.) It was one of those kinda weekends.

Kellie, Kylee, Kenzie, and I left the tball game early to take Kylee to her party at the Build a Bear Workshop. While Kylee was at the party, I took the other two to get a corn dog. Kellie had never had the cheese dogs. You know, the ones where they replace the weenie with a stick of cheese. She's had one now! Then she went and hung out with Kylee at the party.

Kenzie and I went to the Disney Store and tried on princess dresses. I ended up buying her Belle's dress from Beauty and the Beast for her birthday (kinda! see, i already had a gift, but...well...she needed it!) I kept calling her Belle, and she kept saying, "I'm NOT Belle!" I could not figure out why she was being that way. Then when we got back to the house, Kyle asked her who she was, and she said Beauty. So when I would call her Beauty, she went with it. Not Belle, Beauty. Got it! (Yes, there are pictures, but they are on Mom's camera. I've been waiting to get them. No luck. I'll post when I do. I'm just getting too far behind)

I know she's not my kid, but I have to tell this story. I laughed so hard (probably BECAUSE she's not my kid) that I want to remember it forever. Kyle and Myra went outside late one night to smoke. She wanted to go. They wouldn't let her. They sent her to her room to watch a movie and went outside. McKenzie Jean LOCKED them out! (Are you laughing yet? Just wait!) Then she went to Kellie's room and told Kellie that Mommy said if she heard anybody knocking or ringing the doorbell, not to answer it. (I KNOW you're laughing now!) They banged on the door and rang the doorbell, all to no avail. Then Michael came home and had a key. When Kyle and Myra walked in Kenzie's bedroom, she was on her bed with a sippy, snuggled in the covers, watching a movie. She turned to them, rolled her eyes, and said, "How'd y'all get in?" (You're on the floor now, huh? So was I!)

Saturday night, after hanging out and playing Wii and spades, the big girls decided to spend the night at our house while Blaine stayed with Michael and McKenzie. They are just as silly as McKenzie. But they are good Mommas!

Sunday we headed out to Joey's parents' to see Aunt Jackie.
As usual, Blaine immediately made friends with her puppy.
We enjoyed the afternoon with them, but it had been a long weekendso we headed home early.
