Are YOU my Mother Brother?

Bryce and Sassy came to visit this weekend. Friday night, Dad Dad and Mom Mom took them and my kids to see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs while Joey and I kissed all night, just as Blaine predicted went to dinner and to see The Invention of Lying. (It was AWFUL! DON'T spend your money there!) Blaine had so much fun with Bryce, he asked him to be his brother. Sweet little guy!

Saturday morning, after I slept late while my husband had to go to work and my parents were caring for my children (AWFUL mother I am ;-)), Kylee went to dance while the rest of us went to watch Blaine's t-ball game in the sprinkling rain. After the game, we all headed to Chick-fil-A. Then Bryce and Dad Dad went to see their own movie; Joey and Blaine to nap; and the girls went shopping, of course.

It was such a beautiful, cool, fall day that we ordered pizza in and had game night. It was sssooo much fun! I LOVE game night. Why don't we do that more often?

Sunday morning, Dad Dad and Mom Mom too the kids to Krispy Kreme, while we, again, got to sleep a LITTLE late, and then we all went to church. AFter lunch, Bryce and Sassy had to head back for school. I sure hope they come back soon. It's so fun having them here....and Bryce didn't get to give me a little ride with his new driving permit.

My kids are out of school for two weeks for intersession. Even though I am working the whole time to pay for the Phoenix trip, hopefully we'll fall into something fun and interesting.

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

My ten-year-old daughter, when playing a random questions game and asked "What would you get up before sunrise for", did not reply, "LOVE!" Nope, she didn't. How would she know anything about that?

And my five-year-old son while watching the Transformers movie with his Daddy at the part where Optimus Prime died and there were tears streaming down his sweet little face did not say, "I don't know why there is water coming out of my eyes when I'm not even crying. That's weird!" Nope, he wouldn't make up stories to get away with crying. Not my son!

And I would never steal borrow money from my daughter's fund raising stash to get into my son's t-ball game because I had no cash. Nope, not me!

A Blaine fix

Seems like when we were in Phoenix, I had so many more pictures of Blaine. I know it was just because Kylee and Katy were off doing their own thing, and the boys were always around. Since we've been home, it seems like it's been all about Kylee. I guess that's just how it goes. I love them both so much!

Now for your Blaine fix: He told me this morning that last night at t-ball practice, he was trying to catch a "high ball". When it came down, it bounced out of his "glub" and hit him in the "nose hole"!!!

STILL My Terrific Kid

My Terrific Kid had a little trouble yesterday.

While driving to dinner last night, she told me she had to tell me something. She said she was going to wait until have AWANA but she just couldn't keep in only in her mind for that long. When I asked her what happened, she explained that they had been taking a test and she was talking. Mr. Garcia came over and took her test away. By this time, she is bawling!

By the way she was acting, I was beginning to wonder if there was more to the story. Here's how our conversation went:
Me: Were you cheating?
Kylee: No, Mom!
Me: Were you talking?
Kylee: Yes, ma'am.
Me: Did you know you weren't supposed to be?
Kylee: (sobbing) Yes, ma'am.
Me: Who were you talking to?
Kylee: Leslie.
Me: About what?
Kylee: A store we are going to make. (more sobbing)
Me: Kylee, why are you so upset? I understand you're in trouble, but I'm not really mad. Nobody is perfect, not even you. You will have to suffer the consequences of what you did, but nobody is just really, really mad at you.
Kylee: (sobbing even harder) Mommy, it was TWO terrific kids talking! AND you have to go see Mr. Garcia at 7:10 in the morning! (Sobbing even harder than before)
Me: (Laughing under my breath) (In my most serious voice) Kylee, not even terrific kids are perfect, kiddo! I'm not mad at you! I think this is a good lesson you have to learn and you have to suffer the consequences, but I'm not mad at you. And I'm SURE Mr. Garcia isn't either. It is our job to teach you that there are consequences to doing something you know you are not supposed to be doing, but nobody thinks differently of you. We still know you are a good kid.
Kylee: (REALLY sobbing) I don't want him to be mad at me!!

Bless her heart!! Is it possible to be PROUD of your child when she's done something wrong? I was so proud of her that she was upset and worried about what she'd done.
I KNEW she hadn't cheated. I KNEW it was just an honest mistake. I was so proud that she was the kind of kid that I DID KNOW those were truths.

She, of course, didn't want me to tell her Daddy, but I told her I had to, that I couldn't hide things from him because then I was doing something wrong. He had the same reaction I did, but she still worried about seeing Mr. Garcia.

This morning, we headed in to see him. I think I may be as in love with him now as she is. He asked if she had told me what had happened yesterday. I told him she had, and he turned to her. I wasn't sure who was going to cry first, Mr. Garcia or Kylee. Luckily, neither of them did, but they were both pretty upset. He told her that she was still "My Kylee" and still a "Terrific Kid". He told her he still thought the world of her and this didn't change that. He then asked her, "Were you cheating?" She said, "No, sir." He told her that he believed her, but that there were kids in the class who would have been cheating if talking and he couldn't treat her differently. He told me that the reason he wanted to see the parents (evidentally Kylee wasn't the only one) was because he wanted it to be the kids' responsibility of telling the parents, but he wanted to make sure the parents knew the truth. When I left, Kylee was smiling and feeling better, and I actually think Mr. Garcia was, too.

She is STILL my Terrific Kid! And I may have been more proud of her in this time of trouble than I have been for other things!
