Halloween, School Style

My Kylee-BugandTiggerbefore school yesterday morning. Doesn't get much cuter than that!

Blaine took his Rangers pumpkin (a little wilted) and entered it in the pumpkin contest at school.
He didn't win, and I was shocked! And that isn't conceit because, remember, I didn't do it! Anyway, I had to take a picture of the winners to remember who beat him..We are a competitive little family, after all, and there is next year. Bwwahaha

After school, Kylee danced her Spooktacular dances at another school's Fall Festival while Blaine and I went to his. Fall Festivals have come a LONG way! There were the regular ring tosses, basketball tosses, and pumpkin bowling, but there was also Guitar Heroand Rock Band competitions. While Joey and Blaine waited in the haunted house line, I ran to get Kylee from hers and brought her back. (Thus, the picture of her in the basketball toss.) The kids also did an Eeky Sticky Pumpkin Patchwhere they stuck their hands in yucky stuff to find Halloween Erasers.

Welcome, Halloween!

P.S. While watching Kylee pick some tattoos, I was watching her, envying her cute little butt. Was mine ever that cute? Yes, I know that's probably awful of her mother, but...it is MY blog! Again....bwahahaha

P.P.S. In the pictures of Blaine being Tigger, he was giving me his cheesy smile. I told him to give me a Tigger smile. That's what I got.

Punkin Carvin

We carved pumpkins!! Well, ok, we didn't; they did.I stood there telling them I was NOT cleaning up their mess, so they better know that they were doing it!

Then when they finished, I was totally amazed......

...and I cleaned up the mess!

Can you guess who picked which pumpkin?

Spooktacular 2010

Another year at Spooktacular; another day of watching Kylee shake her tailfeather. And, oh, how she can shake it! Wanna see, you say? Well, I'm here to please.

Welcome to the Jungle
Wanna Rock Right Now
Junior Jazz
That's just three of the seven she danced that day. If you'd like to see more, go to YouTube and search sjkmtaylor to find all of our videos.

Never to be outdone by his sister, Blaine had a little performance of his own.

And, of course, Dad Dad and Mom Mom were there to see it all!

Dancing wasn't the only activity on the schedule, though. Blaine met Tigger, again,s1600/DSC00935.JPG">, the kids decorated pumpkins,
, and Kylee did the cake walk. She had done it at Mom Mom's school's fall fair Friday night like 20 times and never won. She did it at Spooktacular once, and WON! Out of all the cakes and cupcakes and good stuff they had there, she picked a bag of Albertson's chocolate chip cookies.

Then another first. We went in the haunted house. You got to choose your level of "scary-ness". Since it was their first time, we went with extra low. Blaine still screamed like a girl, but held on to me like a line backer! Kylee did ok but did NOT let go of her Daddy's hand. Not sure they'll be game for it next year, and I'm not complaining!

First Lost Tooth!

Blaine lost his first tooth Sunday morning! He was eating Fruity Pebbles and just said, "I lost a tooth." Then a little bit louder said, "I lost a tooth!!" Haha!

Last night while we were getting ready for bed, he had his little hands propped up on the window sill looking out the window. (My camera battery was dead because Kylee watched herself dance so much on it. That post is next.) I said, "Whatcha doin, Son?" He said, "I'm watching for the tooth fairy. I think I saw him! I saw some twinkling lights, and I think it's the tooth fairy and his friends waiting for me to go to sleep."

The tooth fairy left five dollars. He asked me to tell him to leave his tooth so he could take it to school today to get the little treasure chest the nurse gives when you lose a tooth at school. Then the nurse was out today! He was so disappointed. But when I told him he could take it again tomorrow, his face lit up.

Here is what he looks like as the toothless wonder. It wont last long. His permanent tooth is already coming in. :-(

Beautifully Sad

Wednesday we laid Joey's grandmother, the kids' great-grandmother to rest. It was a beautiful but sad day. The weather was gorgeous, and the kids looked beautiful, even with their I-don't-really-want-to-take-a-picture smiles. And the three generation of Onicks looked so handsome on this sad day.

It was their first funeral and their first Catholic mass. Uncle Henry (Joey's uncle Walker. The kids call him Uncle Henry because he's always calling them Katy or Kathy or Billy or Bob) is just a big kid himself. He leaned over to Blaine in the middle of communion at the service and said, "So, how do you think it's going so far?" Blaine said, "So so. It's a little weird, and I don't like Papa to cry." He rode in Uncle Henry's limousine, too.

After the funeral, we headed to Aunt Steph and Uncle Henry's house for lunch. The kids and Uncle Henry went turtle hunting in the backyard. The rest of us were visiting in the house. When Uncle Henry came back in the house, I asked what they were doing. He said, "Oh, they've stripped to their underwear to take a dip in the pool." We all laughed. I walked outside. He wasn't kidding. After Blaine jumped, his sister was NOT to be outdone, followed him. It was COLD! When Uncle Henry checked the temperature, the water was 69. Brrrr! So he lit the chimneafor them to warm up with. Then he pulled out his coins and some old socks, and let them take his pennies home.

It was a sad day, but the kids loved hanging out with Uncle Henry, Aunt Steph, Walker, Nana, Papa, and, of course, Aunt Jackie. We will have to do it again soon on a happier day!

All About Kylee

Kylee had a reading project to do an "All About Me" poster. She had certain guidelines to follow, but the creative process was all hers. I'm so proud of this girl! She spent DAYS working on it during intersession. She wanted to write it all out to make it more personal. She also picked all her own pictures.

So good, isn't she? I'm so proud of her!

Let's Get Sticky

****UPDATE***
SHE'S HEADED TO THE DISTRICT SCIENCE FAIR!
*************

Along with my favorite season comes my least favorite school project. Science fair. It's ok, really, though, because Kylee doesn't want me to do it with her anyway. Poor Mom Mom came from Hawaii on Friday and had to work on science fair project all day Saturday AND Sunday.
But she's, oh, so good at it! Don't you agree?
