July - The Vacation, Part I

The morning after Kellie's birthday party, we left Pecos headed for Mustang Island for our family vacation. The first day, obviously it was a long drive, so we got there late. We just checked into our condo, which was AWESOME! It had two bedrooms, two bathroom, a full kitchen, dining area, living room, and balcony.

The view from our balcony

The "main" room of the condo.

Because of the full kitchen, we decided to head to the grocery store. We had to take the ferry, which had a long line. As we were sitting in line at the ferry, Blaine decided to "drive." Joey was telling him to give the passersby the peace sign. This is what he was doing.

We crossed on the ferry, and there were dolphins jumping. They were so fast, though, I didn't get any pictures.

When we got back to the condo, the kids and Joey went and played on the really cool play area right outside our condo, while I unloaded groceries, cut up fruit, and made dinner. That play area ended up being a real challenge for Kylee! Before we left, though, she had perfected what she set out to do!

The next three days, we literally spent ON the beach from sun up to sun down. The pictures are kind of repetitive because we basically did the same thing every day. Nobody was bored with it, and it was WONDERFUL. We got up, ate breakfast, set up camp and hung out on the beach. We boogy boarded

played with imaginary friends
n
chilled out

buried each other

built things

played catch
sucked shrimp and fed them to the birds
danced
and even played hosts to bees one day at our camp.

We did go out to eat one night, just to check out the nightlife (hehe).

And who goes to the beach WITHOUT getting tatoos? Not the Onick family!

On our last night, we even stayed PAST sundown, built a campfire on the beach, invited Aunt Charlene and her family, and made smores! I actually have some REALLY good pictures of the fire and making smores, but I was warned if some certain knees showed up on this blog, some certain person wouldn't be happy. So here's just a picture of Joey building the campfire.

Blaine had told Aunt Charlene early in the night that he was going to go back to her room with her to see her room. He talked about it all night. By the end of the night, after being at the beach three FULL days, in the sun three FULL days, he just couldn't do it. He told her he was sorry, but he was too tired. He didn't even make it through his breathing treatment that night.

And that picture pretty much sums up how we ALL felt on the last day of our wonderfully relaxing stay at the beach.

The next morning we headed to San Antonio to put Joey on a plane back home to work while the kids and I stayed there with Kyle and his family. Stay tuned.

July - Kellie's birthday

Aaaannndddd.....we're off again! We left El Paso Friday afternoon to AGAIN head to Pecos. Dad Dad rode with us, since Mom MOm and the grandkids had left earlier in the day. Saturday was Kellie's annual birthday bash at the Country Club. Friday night (I guess it's technically Saturday morning) about 3 a.m., a HUGE storm rolled into Pecos. I haven't heard a storm that loud in ..... well, maybe EVER. The wind was blowing sssoo hard! Michael had left his boat in the fishing pond from giving the kids a ride earlier. Kyle remembered it had been left, so, bless his heart, at 3 a.m. in a NASTY wind and rain storm, he goes to rescue it. (Talk about love!!) He was breathing so hard, I thought he was going to throw up. What a great dad! Saturday, we just kind of hung out, fished, and played until Kellie's party. We went over to Mom's to visit, too. Kasey was there with his two kids, and Jet was there. Kylee, Kellie, Blaine, Jet, and Shawn were running and playing. Randy walked into the house just as Blaine was running past the door. He said, "Hey, Pops!" and just kept running. He thought he was my dad. haha!

Saturday night we went to the birthday party, which is always fun. The kids get to play w/cousins, and the adults get to visit with their cousins. Oh, and don't forget the birthday cake and presents!

See! The adults are as silly as the kids!

July - Camp Dad Dad and Mom Mom

Joey and I actually had the week off this week because all the kids were at Dad Dad and Mom Mom's. We went and saw The Proposal, went home and just layed on the couch w/out moving, didn't hear one Disney Channel show song. It was so nice! I did, thought start packing for our next adventure. Get ready for it......
Here it comes.....

July - Balmorhea

The NEXT weekend, we took our yearly trip to Balmorhea.

McKenzie had been in the hospital that week, but she made it and was a real trooper. We also found out that Uncle Doak is having another baby due in January.

Everybody went off the high dive, even the ones who were scared of it, and LOVED it this year. We spent a LOT of our time watching them jump off. It was the usual fun of sun, food, swimming, and visiting.

The ones who make it all happen

Just because I LOVED this picture

AND....Dad Dad and Mom Mom told us they are taking us BACK to DisneyWorld next summer! woo hoo

July - the 4th

What a month! We've been home exactly ZERO weekends this month, thus the no posts because I've had NO time to catch up on things that HAVE to be done...grocery shopping, laundry, cooking, etc. So...I'm doing July all in one big blog. Ready? Here we go.

The weekend of the 4th, we went to Pecos on Thursday and spent the night with Kyle's family. The next morning, we got up and headed to the lake (Red Bluff). My kids had been DYING to go on the boat with them, so off we went. It was so much fun, Joey wants a boat. hehe

When we got back to Pecos, we took Kyle's kids (Myra was on call) and headed to Midland to see Pops and Dawn. We just had a typical, all-American 4th of July. We hung out by the pool

hung a flag
took walks in our pajamas
played baseball (well, sort of)
and, of course, popped fireworks

The next day we headed BACK to Uncle Kyle's house for some more all-American fun....FISHING!

See the picture of Kylee and her fish and how she's kinda leaning AWAY from him? That was right after he slapped her in the face with his tail. hehe
